General
Responsibilities
Facilitate
a team of 8-10 youth through the Global Youth Village's experiential
leadership training. Guide youth as they develop skills in brainstorming,
decision making, creative thinking and public speaking through project
planning and implementation. Inspire youth to take an active role in
their home communities. Previous experience guiding young people in
community service or volunteer programs preferred.
Qualifications:
*
Minimum of one-year college level education.
* Previous experience leading groups of youth in community service or
volunteer programs.
* Has educational knowledge of: communication skills, group management,
discussion leading, creative / critical thinking, and problem solving.
* Practically applies themselves effectively in the above mentioned
areas.
* Desire to guide youth in an educational training process.
* Is able to follow GYV's leadership training curriculum.
* Works well within a team and a co-teaching situation. Promotes open,
clear communication within the team structure.
* Ability to accept guidance and supervision, and seek guidance when
needed.
* Good character, integrity, self-reflective.
* Enthusiastic, self-motivated with high personal stamina.
* Conversant in English
Responsible
to: Leadership Coordinator
Specific
Responsibilities:
*
Participate in GYV's facilitators training.
* Co-instruct / lead a Global Youth Village "Action Team",
composed of up to 10 youths.
* Follow GYV's Leadership training curriculum.
* Attend regular facilitator meetings. Give regular reports on your
progress to the staff team.
* Communicate with the Leadership Coordinator regarding individual youths
as necessary.
* Oversee the successful completion of an individual project
* Complete project evaluations mid-session and at the end of the season.
Essential
Functions:
*
Ability to effectively manage a group of 8-10 youth. Provide necessary
instruction and guidance to youths during project time.
* Ability to observe youth behavior assesses its appropriateness, enforce
appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and provide
guidance and discipline.
* Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental
and other hazards related to the activity.
* Possesses strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision
of youth in a rural, residential camp setting.
