General
Responsibility:
To maintain the operations of the GYV computer lab (computers, printers
and internet networks). Assists workshop staff in incorporating technology
as an educational tool. Leads the design and posting of on-line cabin
journals. Assists youths in researching & preparing visual presentations
for cultural events
Minimum
Qualifications:
Experience in basic computer maintenance procedures (i.e., loading
software, Windows 98 maintenance, disk fragmenting, hardware & software
troubleshooting).
Ability to establish procedures/rules and keep order to ensure
computer lab and equipment are used in safe and respectful manner.
Knowledge in Macromedia DreamWeaver, and web site design skills.
(Knowledge of HTML is optional, but preferred.)
Knowledge of Mircosoft PowerPoint and creating digital multimedia
presentations.
Ability to take initiative and seek/accept guidance and supervision
as needed.
Ability to establish work priorities, respond to unanticipated
needs, and work under pressure.
Orderly, able to organize and handle multiple tasks at one time.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others.
Ability to work in a team.
Good character, integrity, and adaptability.
Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-motivated.
Desire and ability to work in a rural, camp setting.
Fluent in English.
At least one-year professional work experience or post-secondary
school education.

Specific
Responsibilities:
1. Schedule and conduct weekly computer maintenance tasks.
2. Monitor use of equipment & supplies in computer lab; order equipment
and supplies as needed.
3. Lead basic computer training classes or tutorials to staff &
youth as needed.
4. Assist youth in researching and preparing digital multimedia presentations
for cultural events using Microsoft PowerPoint and other software.
5. Serve as tech person during cultural events, setting up and operating
equipment needed for multimedia presentations.
6. Maintain order and cleanliness of the lab throughout the summer.
7. Identify problems with facility & equipment, reporting to supervisor
as needed.
8. Some digital photo documentation duties as needed.
9. Clean lab at the end of the summer; includes inventory & storing
of equipment & supplies.
10. Provide an evaluation of lab use and policies at the end of the
summer, with recommendations for ongoing development of the program.
Essential
Functions:
1. Ability to effectively communicate with youths and staff; to provide
necessary instruction, and to convey and enforce computer usage policies.
2. Knowledge of basic webpage design.
3. Visual & auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental
and other hazards related to area.
