Stage Technician
Job Description

 

 

General Responsibility:

To work as part of the Special & Evening Programs team to support and enhance all-village events through the set-up and monitoring of sound system, LCD projector, and any associated lighting needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Training and / or experience in set-up and monitoring of simple sound systems. Professional stage technician experience not required.
* Technical expertise in setting up and operating LCD projectors
* Qualified to fulfill a primary role within the Global Youth Staff Team (i.e. - Counselor or Workshop Instructor role. Please refer to these job descriptions)
* Ability to maintain equipment in safe, working condition.
* Organized. Able to stay focused on tasks during program delivery.
* Conversant in English

Responsible to: Program Coordinator

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Meet with Program Coordinator on a regular basis to determine the evening program technical needs for each week.
2. Maintain standards of quality and safety with the equipment.
3. Set-up and break down equipment in a timely fashion, 3-5 evenings per week.
4. Orient staff and / or youth as to standards of behavior / safety when near or assisting with technical equipment.
5. Assist Program Coordinator in set-up and break down of sets during any evening or special programs.
6. Conduct regular checks and maintain order of equipment throughout the summer. Identify maintenance needs, and report to Coordinator as needed.
7. Clean and properly store equipment at end of the summer, including an inventory of equipment and supplies.
8. Evaluate current season and make recommendations for equipment, supplies, and programming for the following summer.

Essential Functions:

1. Ability to effectively communicate with staff and youths regarding safe behavior when near or moving around sound and light equipment.
2. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to area.
3. Physical strength to maintain, move and set-up equipment.
4. Ability to observe & assess youth and staff behavior, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures, and provide appropriate guidance and discipline.
