Store Clerk & Bookkeeper
Job Description

 

General Responsibility:

To oversee the day to day operations of the store. Responsible for setting up and maintaining store accounts. Responsible for store stocking and cleaning.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Experience in office procedures (i.e., filing, meeting public, and setting up systems).
* Some knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures.
* Ability to establish work priorities, to respond to unanticipated needs, and to work under pressure.
* Orderly; able to organize and handle numerous information and tasks.
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others, especially with those whose first language is not English.
* Good character, integrity, and flexibility.
* Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-discipline.
* Ability to take initiative and seek/accept guidance and supervision as needed.
* Desire and ability to work in a rural, camp setting.
* Fluent in English; ability to converse in another language helpful.
* High school graduate with at least one-year post high school work experience or education.
* Minimum age, 21 years old.

Responsible To: Store Manager and Comptroller

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Assist with arrival day procedures; receiving store deposits.
2. Set-up & maintain store deposit log. Record deposits on individual ledger cards and envelopes.
3. Post store receipts to individual ledger cards & balance daily.
4. Collect on overdue accounts.
5. Work with Store Manager in maintaining store accounts and deposit bags.
6. Assist in store set-up and close down at the end of the season.
7. Stock and price items on daily.
8. Notify store manager of items to reorder.
9. Clean daily
10. Create advertising signs/ posters.
11. Coordinate store prizes for Village contests and or awards.

Essential Functions:

1. Ability to effectively communicate with youths and staff (including non-English speakers), and to provide necessary instruction.
2. Ability to communicate to staff and youths the safety regulations and emergency procedures in case of an all-camp emergency.
3. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to area.
4. Cognitive and communication abilities to carry out specific responsibilities of the position.
5. Ability to operate essential office equipment needed to carry out responsibilities (i.e. telephone, safe).
