Alumni Profiles: Vselvod “Seva” Sutyagin | alumni | Global Youth VillageParticipant:  1996

Major/Field of Study:  MBA in Finance from Moscow Oil and Gas University

Most interesting country visited:  France, but there are many countries in Europe that I love.

 Favorite GYV Memory:

It’s been 12 years since I left GYV and it’s hard to recall all the details clearly.  A lot of things were completely different for me, but I guess the unusual vegetarian food made the greatest impression. It took a couple of weeks to get used to it.  I can say many good words about the people I met who helped me to have a great time there and to eliminate strong stereotypes.

Biography:

I’m Russian, I grew up in Samara, now I live in Moscow and work for an oil company, Gazprom.  .   I’m currently the deputy head of the crude oil export department. I’m married and we have a daughter. I enjoy  sports, cars and travelling

    Hello Linda!

Although I am not the person you remembered back then, I have worked for Legacy since its inception and remember your being at the Village in 1991! My languages are Spanish, conversational French and Russian. Sorry, no German.

It is delightful to hear what you have been doing. Before you know it, your kids will be GYV age… I know it’s hard to believe but time goes so fast….

I hope you definitely update your information. It is great hearing from all of our alumni and our new website design is the perfect vehicle to re-connect with alumni around the world! My experience over the years is that when time passes, our alumni, whether from our adult or youth programs, think we at Legacy have forgotten them. But once someone attend the Village or another program, everyone remains connected in our minds and we want to stay in contact.

    Best regards

    Hi Linda,

It is exciting to see alumni interacting on the new website and hearing about what has happened in your life since GYV. We are currently trying to update our alumni database. Do we have your current email address and home address? If not please send us an update by going to the Update Your Address post under Alumni on this website. It would be great to get a picture of your family as well and you and your family can be featured on our next Alumni Profile!

Hope to hear from you soon,

    Hello Marlene,

I saw your comment and wondered if you’re the Marlene I used to (badly) speak in German with back in the summer of 1991, when I was a participant. I’m Hungarian and a boy and I were awarded a Soros scholarship to participate at the GYV. Back then I was using my maiden name, Vasarhelyi. I married an Englishman and we moved back to the UK from Hungary over 10 years ago. We have two boys (Alex 7 and Mark 4) and I’m at home looking after them, but I also freelance (DVD subtitling, translations) when the boys are at school.
Hope to hear from you and apologies, if I got you confused with someone else.

    Linda

    Dear Seva,
It was great to hear what you are doing. As you know, your father, Sasha Sutjagin was a Business for Russia participant and I hope you remember when I visited your home in Samara. I think you were about 11 years old. ?? Congratulations on your marriage and your child! It is great to hear some news!

Please pass my email and warmest regards to your mom and dad. We at Legacy would also like to hear from them and what they are doing.

    Best,
    Marlene Ginsberg
