“Every once in a while I try to remind myself of the experience at GYV, and every time I find new things I appreciate. This time it is the fact that the program encourages each participant and staff member to develop to their full potential. I learned that words are as powerful as deeds, and a word of encouragement or praise can dramatically raise a person’s self esteem.
As an international, the whole GYV experience is challenging: another continent, another culture, a mixture of customs, different social settings and value systems. A special challenge is to be one’s self, but at the same time to adjust to one’s co-workers who all have different working habits and ways of handling everyday duties. The very decision to apply was a challenge that I’m very happy I experienced.”
