The Fourth of July is always a special day at Global Youth Village.  A carnival was organized in the afternoon with a variety of fun and games. Our evening program was a night of music and dance. For the past 25+ years, the Hoorah Cloggers have been sharing their love of traditional Appalachian music and dance with the Village participants. They joined us once again this year, along with the Indian Run Stringband.   We were also serenaded by artist in residence Charles Williams who did a soulful rendition of ‘America the Beautiful’. After their performance, Hoorah Cloggers taught everyone how to do the Virginia reel…a famous folk dance from the 17th century! The night was full of joy and laughter and we even had  a pig calling competition!
