Alumni Summer ’86 Wambui Kamau writes from Kenya and reports that things have been difficult in Kenya of late. In late 2007 and early 2008, the situation was particularly taxing as she could not access her office and her children could not go to school. There were shortages of basic food commodities and fuel and it was impossible to travel from or to Nairobi. She hopes that the political process to form a coalition government that has now commenced will be followed through.

After Legacy, Wambui finalized her degree, taught at high school level for a couple years, then retrained and joined PwC where she now works as professional corporation secretary. Wambui says that it been a rewarding career although she still on occasion misses the interactive component of teaching.

Wambui got married in 1990, and but was widowed ten years later. She is the mother to two teenage children who are 17 and 13 years old.
